Course Title : English for the Professional Nurses I (EPN I)

COMPETENCIES

After completed this subject, students will be able to:

1. Describe and show part of the body
2. Label and explain the function of medical equipments
3. Give direction in and around the hospital
4. Use expressions for collecting demographic data and use questions to collect current and past
health illness data
5. Use expressions for establishing a relationship
6. Give communicative response to patient’s complaint and ask the dimensions of symptoms
7. Use expressions for assessing the head, face, neck and also other parts of body
8. Communicate about implementation of checking vital signs and give some instructions
during implementation of checking vital sign
9. Give instructions and suggestions according to the patient’s health problem and deliver a
therapeutic communication
METHOD

The English for the Professional Nurses I consists of three main parts:
1. Speaking skill (Pronounciation, vocabulary, grammar and fluency)
2. Reading skill
3. Listening skill
COURSE POLICIES

1. Evaluation
The evaluation is based on below consideration during the learning process:
a. Class performance (speaking) : 25%
b. Assignment : 25%
c. Mid test (reading, listening) : 25%
d. Final test (reading, listening) : 25% 2. Grading
