Alto Saxophone

The alto saxophone is a Woodwind instrument invented by Belgian instrument designer Adolphe Sax in 1841. It is smaller than the tenor but larger than the soprano, and is the type most used in classical compositions. Double Bass (String Bass)


The Double Bass is a string instrument and was invented in Europe in the 15th century. It can be played by arco or pizzicato and stands around 180 cm (six feet) from scroll to endpin. It is usually made of wood. A famous double bassist is Ray Brown who has memorable walking bass lines.

Clarinet
The clarinet is a type of woodwind instrument that has a single-reed mouthpiece, a straight cylindrical tube with an approximately cylindrical bore, and a flaring bell. Johann Christoph Denner invented the clarinet in Germany around the turn of the 18th centaury. A famous jazz clarinetist is Benny Goodman or the king of swing, as he was commonly known.

Trumpet
A trumpet is a musical instrument. It is the highest register in the brass family. They are played by blowing air through closed lips, producing a "buzzing" sound that starts a standing wave vibration in the air column inside the instrument. A famous trumpeter is Louis Armstrong who shifted the focus of the music from collective improvisation to solo performance.
