Here are just a few announcements for this week. This week your child will bring home two sets of flashcards. One set is the regular vocabulary terms we send home weekly and the second set social studies terms to prepare for unit 1 test. Please make sure your children study terms every night. If your child has not chosen his or her October book please make sure they pick one soon. This week we will start Reporters. Instructions will be sent home. Heres what going on in 3rd grade this week . This weeks story is one of my personal favorites. In the story Teammates we learn about the friendship between baseball players Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese. It tells about the courage of Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play Major League Baseball. It also tells about Pee Wee Reese, who had the courage to stand up for his teammate. Any idea why its my favorite story?? ;-) In Math we will focus on. Divide a square into 3 equal parts Identify and shade thirds Rewrite numbers by regrouping tens and ones Trading dimes & pennies Making an organized list Counting Dimes, Nickels and Pennies Writing Fractions using the fraction bar Adding facts of 9 In Science we will be exploring different types of habitats In Social Studies we will conclude our unit by reviewing concepts learned and playing a fun review game. In Religion we will learn about the beginning of the church. They will learn about the Apostles who led the Church and about those who remained true followers of Jesus despite the risk of losing their lives.
