News

Religion: We reviewed the story of Creation using a poster set that shows what happened each day. We read about All Saints Day and attended Mass on Friday. We talked about some of the saints.

Reminders
*Tuesday, November 5, is our Frog and Toad field trip. Students wear school uniforms. Bring a lunch and a drink. Please remember hot lunches were not ordered for Tuesday. *Please bring an extra pair of shoes on gym days. *Return library books by Wednesday of each week. *Return UNICEF treat boxes by Wednesday, November 6.

Reading: This week we began working with the ending sounds of er and ed. We practiced reading and writing rhyming words. We are also working on writing sentences correctly. We finished writing in the October journals.
Math: We are writing and reading addition and subtraction sentences. We practiced solving word problems. We started the next chapter about addition. Our first strategy to solve problems uses the skill of counting on to find the answers.

Science: We are reading about animals in our big book textbook. We will be using a set of posters to help us learn about the different groups of animals. The first animal group we are studying are mammals.
Monster Playhouse Stories: Last week we created monsters. Our fifth grade buddies helped us to write stories about the character. Some of the stories are funny and some are scary.

Stars of the Week


Our Stars of the Week are the Art Zone volunteers. On Thursday, a large group of parents greeted us as we came into the Art Zone room. We had a great time working on our first project of this school year. You are super stars, Art Zone volunteers!

Barnes and Nobel Book Fair is at Village Crossings on Saturday, November 9. Please join us for some reading fun.
