News

Religion: We went to mass on Wednesday. Fr. Pat


read some letters that children had written to God.
We wrote our own letters to God. We started
reading the Family Life book for first grade.
Reading: This week we reviewed the ending
sounds er and the three different sounds of ed.
We read a Junie B. Jones book in preparation for
our field trip. We wrote in our October journals.
Math: We are writing and reading addition and
subtraction sentences. We practiced solving
addition problems by counting on from the larger
addend. We looked for clues in the question to
decide when to add or subtract. We are also
working with the double facts from 0 to 10.
Science: We are learning about ways to classify
animals. We are collecting facts about each animal
group.
Halloween activities: We will read many stories in
class. We will create poems using the parts of
speech to help choose missing words in the poem.
We will play a game about Halloween facts and
opinions. We will watch a Discovery Education
video clip about the traditions of Halloween. We
will take part in a school wide Halloween activity at
the end of the day on Monday.

time for school.
*Return library books by Thursday of
each week.

We will eat lunch when we return to
school.

Maggie was one of our stars this
week. She brought many great
things to share with us. Her dad
was our guest reader on
Wednesday morning.
Leo was our star this week. He
brought some great photos to
share. He showed us the
remote controlled car he
got in Michigan. His
mom was our guest
reader on Thursday.
