Dear Parents, We will be celebrating United Nations Day on Friday 25th of October 2013. The central idea for the day is Theres so much that we share, its time were aware, its a small world after all. It is a time for celebration, reflection and inquiry into what connects us as global citizens. Students are encouraged to dress in traditional clothes and bring in a plate of international food to share with their classmates at snack or lunch times; individual homeroom teachers will send out further information regarding this. Please keep allergies and religions in mind, labeling food with an ingredients list (for example contains nuts, pork or eggs). The day will begin at 9:00am with an International Assembly where all students will perform an item sharing music from around the world. This will be followed by a brief UN Day parade around the perimeter of the field with plenty of opportunities for photographs at this time. The CSG is coordinating a series of international stalls in the School Hall. All year levels will have an opportunity to visit these stalls throughout the morning to learn about other unique cultures of the world by viewing various artifacts, maps and interesting books, maps and items. The day will continue with individual year level inquiry activities and an Early Years cultural event. It promises to be a reflective, engaging and interesting day of celebration. If you have any questions or require further information about UN Day, please do not hesitate to contact your homeroom teacher. We hope you can join us for this event Finally, we will be having a Mufti Day at school on October 31st, 2013. This repeat event from last year is a smart-casual, fun dress day for students that just happens to coincide with Halloween!
