Art Contest
3A students will spend a bit of
time in class to write creatively -
this could be a poem, story, essay,
etc. Their writing pieces will then
be used for a class speech
presentation. The speech should
be 1-3 minutes long and it will be
done on the week of June 2nd.
Students who are interested to join
the JY competitions will let Ms.
Abadesco know so that their
names can be added to the
selection. One representative from
each class will be chosen for the
JY speech contest.

Re: Sports Day Timings and Information: Friday May 23

Dear Parents,

A reminder that our Junior Years Sports Day will take place next Friday May 23
rd
at Bedok Stadium. As we are
unable to use the APSN facilities next door this year, we have moved back to the Bedok Stadium. As always, we
are hoping for good weather that morning, and hope that you will be able to join us.

To take full advantage of the good weather that we hope to have, and the cooler air in the morning, we are going to
move straight into our events once the children arrive at the stadium, with a quick Sport Day kick off greeting once
everyone is in place. As with previous years, the events will be positioned around the stadium field and track
areas, and you will be able to move between event locations to take pictures and cheer on the children.

Water bottles, sunscreen, hats and a snack should be packed for the morning. Children should wear House t-
shirts and PE shorts The school will provide bottled water again, on ice, and Nurse Yana will be on hand with
extra sunscreen and for First Aid support.

Here is a brief itinerary for the morning:

9:05-9:20: Students leave school by bus for the Bedok Stadium.

9:20-9:45: Students arrive at Bedok Stadium and move to their first event positions. Parents arrive
at Bedok Stadium. Principal welcomes everyone with a quick good morning greeting.

9:50-11:50: Events take place on both the field and the track with rotation and rest times.

11:50-12:00: Students depart by bus back to school for afternoon classes.

This years events will include sprints, relays, throwing and team competitions. Students have been practicing for
these events during their P.E. lessons leading up to Sports Day, and they are definitely excited and looking forward
expending some energy.

For those of you who have never
been to Bedok Stadium, please
see the map. There is paid
parking close to the stadium, with
more limited free parking available
a bit further down the street.
Please email if you uncertain
about the directions or have any
questions before next Friday
morning. I hope that youll be able
to join us, and if so, please wear
something that you dont mind
getting a little hot in.
