Dear Parent/Carer,

Sports Day Friday 23 June 2017

We will be holding our annual Sports Day at Osterley Athletics track, Isleworth on Friday 23 June.
To ensure smooth running of the day, it is crucial that parents/carers and students are aware of
how the day will be organised. All students across Years 7-10 will participate in a range of track
and field athletic events. Students gain points for their form group and house based on their active
participation. Students are only allowed to take part in a maximum of three events. Please see
the schedule below:

8.30AM Years 7 and 8 arrive at school and go to their form room.

8.45AM Years 7 and 8 are supervised to the track and begin their events at 9.00am.

11.30AM Years 7 and 8 dismissed from the track to go home.

11.30AM Years 9 and 10 arrive at school and go to their form room.

11.45AM Years 9 and 10 are supervised to the track and begin their events at 12.00pm.

2.30PM Years 9 and 10 dismissed from the track to go home.

Staff will only be available to supervise at the times stated, so please do not send your
son/ward to school earlier. This particularly applies to students in Years 9 and 10, who
must not arrive at school earlier than 11.15am.

Students must wear full and correct Physical Education kit (House Polo Shirt) no other sports
kit is permitted. A tracksuit can be worn to and from school but jeans and other informal clothing
will not be allowed.

Students on Free School Meals (FSM) will receive a packed lunch, but the canteen will not be
open. Since there is no caf at the track, all students are advised to bring a healthy packed lunch
with sufficient water for the day. Given that Sports Day falls within the period of Ramadan, we
request for Muslim students undertaking fasting to please communicate any specific issues
relating their health and/or participation to their PE teacher in advance of the day.

Please be aware that cover and shaded areas at the track are sparse; therefore, a shower-proof
jacket, hat and sun-cream are allowed and strongly advised. Absolutely no valuables should be
brought to the event; the school does not take responsibility for any damage or loss.

Parents/carers are most welcome to attend Sports Day as spectators; a viewing area will be
arranged. However, please be aware that this is not next to the finishing line.

Should we anticipate that bad weather may affect the organisation and smooth running of the
day, a decision on cancellation will be made before 3.00pm on Thursday 22 June. We urge
parents/carers and students to continually check the schools website and Twitter account
(www.twitter.com/IsleworthSyon) to obtain this information. In such an event, Friday 23 June will
be a normal school day.

Thank you in anticipation of your support for what is always an exciting event in our school
sporting calendar.

Yours faithfully,

Mr S Fisher
