Welcome to Fourth Grade

at Roycemore School!

Welcome! I am looking forward to a wonderful year in fourth grade! Here are a few
reminders/suggestions about the school day at Roycemore.

1. Class begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. everyday, except Thursday, when school ends
at 3:00 p.m. If your child arrives before 8:15 a.m., he/she may go to the EDP room, where
they will be dismissed at the appropriate time. Between 8:15 and 8:20 students will be
allowed to enter the classroom.
2. For P.E., students should bring a pair of gym shoes that stay at school in their cubby. These
will be used as indoor shoes when winter arrives so students are not in boots all day.
Again, this pair of shoes should stay at school.
3. The weather in Evanston can change quickly! I encourage each student to keep a sweater
or sweatshirt at school in their cubby. Please be sure the item is labeled with first and last
name, or initial.
4. Students will have a daily morning snack. Please send a healthy snack with your child
everyday. Please remember no nuts are allowed due to allergies. I appreciate your
consideration of the students health and wellness.
5. Your child will be talking about being a leader through our participation in a Leader in Me.
At Roycemore School, we promote positive behavior by reminding the students to follow the
7 Habits of Healthy Kids. Be on the lookout for some at home activities these first few
weeks.

I look forward to a great year and sharing more information with you through our class website
(a link to access will be sent this week) and at Miniature School, which takes place on Thursday,
September 7. This is an evening that is structured to introduce you to the fourth grade
curriculum and the highlights of the upcoming years. I hope you can attend.
