Job Description for Mini-Grid Engineer (MGE)

Job Title : Report to : Responsible to : Overall Purpose: The Mini-Grid Engineer (MGE) is overall responsible to implement the Regional Service Centre (RSC) activities of Alternative Energy Promotion Centre/ National Rural and Renewable Energy Programme (AEPC/NRREP) relating to the technical matters as detailed in work plan. The MGE shall assist TL in making sure that targeted output of the agreed work plan is achieved. The MGE is also responsible for monitoring and assisting technical personnel working on Community Electrification activities in RSC. Main Task: The main task of MGE is to implement agreed detailed work plan activities. Other duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following: Assist TL in work plan preparation of RSC Assist in the process of project identification and verification of mini/micro/pico hydro schemes. Perform technical assessment and appraisal of pre-feasibility study/verification and detail feasibility study reports prepared by pre-qualified consultants. Provide support to the community in consultant selection for detailed feasibility studies, Installation Company for project installations and monitor of construction activities. Assist community in preparing bill of quantity (BOQ) for inviting quotations and assist the community for assessing the quotations received. Assist community in selection of participants in the operators, plant managers, mason and other training. Assist RC/TL in preparing progress reports. Maintain status and pipeline of MH Projects in different stages. Monitor projects in different stages (Under Construction, Testing and Commissioning, Power Output Verification and One Year Guarantee Check) and prepare reports. Prepare proper record of completed M/MHP. Plan and conduct field visits. Monitor work of Sub-Engineer/District Coordinator (including the field visit) Assist RC/TL as and when needed in relating to the community electrification activities. Perform other duties as assigned by RC/TL and AEPC/NRREP. Mini-Grid Engineer (MGE) Team Leader of Respective RSC Team Leader (TL) of Respective RSC & Respective SubComponent of AEPC/NRREP

Qualifications and Experience

The Mini-Grid Engineer should have a Bachelor Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Agricultural Engineering with 3 years work experience in relevant field.
