Course Description:
A Regents level course that traces American History and Government from the 17th century to the present day.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: successfully complete the NY State U.S. History and Government Regents Exam. identify key events and themes that shaped our history and will impact our future. demonstrate an understanding of our obligations and roles as U.S. citizens. analyze primary and secondary sources to view historical events through a critical lense. utilize technology for historical research and to keep abreast of our ever changing world.

Topic to be covered:
Colonial America and the American Revolution The Constitution and Early American Presidents Nationalism and Sectionalism Civil War and Reconstruction Industrialization and the Progressive Movement Imperialism and World War I Prosperity and Depression World War II and the Cold War Civil Rights Movement and Conservatism Contemporary America

Class attendance and participation is mandatory. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class session. The lowest exam grade and lowest quiz grade will be dropped. All assignments must be submitted on time.
