END of an ERA
Ive received correspondence from Br Vince Duggan (Province Leader of the Christian Brothers) informing me that a decision has been made for Brothers Hugh, Dermot and Gabe to return to Melbourne. Br Duggan writes: That will mean the community will close from the end of February next year The three Brothers speak highly of the support they receive from you and of their happiness at being involved in such a parish While we are unable to send other Christian Brothers to Warrnambool we do hope that, over the years, the many men who have been there have had some impact for good on the life of the parish. I will dialogue with our Parish Leadership Team about how best we can say thanks & goodbye. (Fr John) The Ignatian Way: You are invited to share in the PowerPoint presentations of Fr Johns pilgrimage in Spain this Wednesday at 7.00pm (Gathering Space) Please bring a plate to share for supper. Weekend Masses: Based on the Mass Count over the past few years, St Josephs Parish doesnt warrant four (4) Masses these days. Three (3) would adequately meet our present need. Thus the change from 4 to 3 Masses will commence on the 1st weekend in February, 2014. The present situation: * * * * * * * There are 3 Vigil Masses in Warrnambool There are 4 Sunday Morning Masses in Wbool (NB: In 2004 St Josephs dropped from 3 to 2 Sunday Morning Masses) There is 1 Sunday Evening Mass for the whole region (St Josephs) Its been difficult finding Liturgical Ministers for the present 4 Masses at St Josephs and also been difficult to guarantee music at every Mass There will be one less priest in Warrnambool at some stage No students in the seminary for the Ballarat Diocese, thus no priest to be ordained re the next 7 years Purnim has 2 Masses per month plus Lay Assemblies on the alternate Sundays
