OMIE #1-Literacy Block Time

Materials:

O3.8.4.4 Report on a topic or text and avoid plagiarism by identifying sources, tell a story, or recount an experience with appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details, speaking clearly at an understandable pace. 3.8.1.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 3 topics and texts, building on others ideas and expressing their own clearly. b. Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions (e.g., gaining the floor in respectful ways, listening to others with care, speaking one at a time about the topics and texts under discussion).

Content Objective: SWBAT use their interview sheets to guide them as they interview a classmate with the purpose of sharing three things they learned to the class. Language Objective: Hello class! I-Gather students for instructions and


reminders about appropriate partner work. Discuss respect and good listening. *Check for understanding.* Give time for partners to ask each other questions and write information down on their interview sheets. Gather students again and allow time for each one to complete the sentence frame by sharing with the class. Conclude by discussing why it is important to know about one another in a classroom. E- As students are working together, observe room and take notes on student behavior (look for respectful communication). Students should

be able to complete the sentence frame. *Additional* Collect Interview Sheets in order to get a rough idea of students writing abilities. No data should be based on this- but some info could be helpful.
