Community Development OMIE Lesson Plan Rebekah Branby 9:00-10:00 Arrival Routine (Day 3 or 4) O- SWBAT work in groups to accurately

model parts of the morning arrival procedure, especially focusing on remaining safe, quiet, and responsible. (This is after the initial introduction to the procedures) M- Classroom space, backpacks, cubbys, mock take-home folders, mock lunch list pencils and mock morning work I-(See right) E- Students will be able to do a quick write (independently) that details what the arrival routine is and how they will be safe, quiet and responsible with 90% accuracy. Refresh students on courteous group work. Discuss how to make sure everyone is heard and respected. Discuss the importance of contributing. (10 min) Divide students into six groups. Assign one of the following to each group: First steps in, back packs away, take home folders in, sign up for lunch, sharpen pencils, do morning work. (5 min) Explain that each group will be modeling the routine they were assigned for the rest of the class. Stress that everyone in the group should participate and point out necessary materials. Remind the students you will be watching for students who can model the procedures in safe, quiet, and responsible ways. (5 min) Allow time for students to communicate and practice how they will model. (10 min) Enjoy presentations! (25 min) Do a quick write on the morning routines (10 min)
