Prepositions
Definition: a word expressing a relation to another word in a clause or sentence There are 5 types.Prepositions of Time Place Direction Agent Instrument

Prepositions of Time
Indicate what month, day, year, time of day, etc. They are in, at, and on Examples: In January, on Monday, at 5:00

Prepositions of Place
Indicate where something happens They are in, on, and at Examples: in school, at a store, on a table

Prepositions of Direction
Used to describe direction Some examples are to, toward, into, and through Examples: to the library, into the river, toward him

Prepositions of Agent
Used for a thing which is cause of another thing in the sentence Some examples are by, and with Examples: by Shakespeare, with water

Prepositions of Instrument
Used differently for different devices or instruments Some examples are by, with, and on Example: She comes by bus daily

Prepositional Phrases
Definition: a modifying phrase containing a preposition and its object, plus any of the objects modifiers Examples: I hear voices in my head/ she went up into the tree house
