    Snorri are both important figures in what we might call the Icelandic skaldic renaissance of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Snorris role in preserving the skaldic tradition and codifying its techniques and aesthetic precepts was of unparalleled significance in the revivification of the tradition, of course.
