Would you mind emailing and letting me know how you feel Andy is doing in your class? If you prefer for me to come in to talk to you face to face, I am more than happy to do that. Thank you Francesca Cunningham

I think Andy is doing quite well in Spanish class at the moment. As long as he keeps turning in his work and studying for quizzes/tests, he will continue to do well. I'll keep you appraised if he starts to fall behind. Let me know if you have any questions! Aaron

Malia and Spanish

5 messages Kalyn Durr <kalyn72@gmail.com> To: aaron.backlin@grinnell-k12.org Dear Aaron, Good morning. I am just following up about Malia's grade. She told me that she has taken care of any and all missing grades and assignments with all of her classes. I do, however, still see a few holes in her progress report. U1L1 Voc 9/3 has no score Irregular preterit exam 10/10 has no score And, WOW, she must have totally messed up her exam 2 to receive a 52%! Can you let me know if she still has things to turn into you, and can you speak with her to let her know what she can possibly do to pop her grade back up to an A? Thank you so much, Kalyn Aaron Backlin <aaron.backlin@grinnell-k12.org> To: Kalyn Durr <kalyn72@gmail.com> Tue, Nov 12, 2013 at 10:18 AM Tue, Nov 12, 2013 at 10:07 AM

Good morning to you! I show on my gradebook that she's 100% complete. She has a few points of extra credit coming for the preterit irregulars exam, but I doubt it will be enough to bump her all the way back up. However, if she studies well for the final and puts in a good effort, it can and will move her back to the A range. (That last exam, for some reason, was generally blown off by many of the kids- not much studying done. They're a strange breed, the sophomores!) So in all, she's in good shape to take the final on Thursday! Let me know if I can shed any more light on anything for you. Aaron

So the missing scores that I see don't show missing on your end? That's strange. I will make sure to help her study. Thanks, Kalyn

Thanks for the head's up, Aaron. Dare I ask if my son's name (Spencer Wilcox) is on the "List of Shame"??? Thanks, Laurie Wilcox -----Original Message----From: aaron.backlin@grinnell-k12.org [mailto:aaron.backlin@grinnell-k12.org] Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2013 1:41 PM To: Wilcox, Laurie Subject: End of Trimester Information - Spanish Dear Parents and Students: Buenos Das! The purpose of this email is to remind everyone that my policy on make-up quizzes and tests allows students to make up missed assessments at any time during the trimester up to the week of final exams. That time is quickly approaching. As in the past, I have posted the List of Shame in my room that lists the missing assessments and the students that have yet to make them up. Confidentiality prevents me from mailing this list of names out directly, but this information can be accessed within the individual student pages on JMC. (Pestering your child about this also helps.) Please do double-check your (your students) gradbook for missing scores, even if you dont think there are any for you (your student). Take advantage of the opportunity to make up these quizzes and exams. These missing scores are currently not factored into the grade you have as they are simply missing. On Friday, Nov 8th, after e2 (8:25AM), these grades will be converted to zero scores, and that can and will do substantial damage to a grade. Once again, if you (your student) do (does) have a missing score posted, please find time in the next two weeks to take advantage of the opportunity to take late exams and quizzes before they become zero scores. If there are any questions, please let me know either by email (aaron.backlin@grinnell-k12.org) or in class. Gracias! Y ojal que Uds. tengan un buen fin del trimestre. Seor Backlin P.S. Further reminder that students in Spanish 2A MUST have their preterit irregulars quiz passed with 100% before they will be allowed to take the final exam for the trimester. This quiz can be taken and re-taken as

Not on the main list for missing tests and quizzes, but he IS on the list to retake the irregular preterit quiz that I mentioned post-script :)
