I claim that the amount of vinegar when added to steel wool does affect the temperature. ! My evidence is that it rose every time we tested. We could not test it every time but did not decline. The temperature on the ten cc was probably affected by the sun because the blinds were open. But the other two were valid.! Checking with the experts. Chemical or physical reaction? Why? Well, the experts from science kids say that it's a chemical reaction because the acid (vinegar) breaks down the protective coating allowing the steel wool to rust and make heat. The reason that the steel wool gave off heat and the cup got foggy. So the chemical reaction is heat, fogginess, and rusting of the steel wool. http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/experiments/ steelwoolvinegar.html
