ECOSYSTEM

I. Focus and Review (Establish Prior Knowledge) Activities and Setting Students will review the environmental needs for successful plant and animal growth. Materials and Time classroom presentation and textbook examples 25 min.

II. Statement (Inform) of Objectives Activities and Setting Using information learn from textbook and presentation students will match environmental need with it source of origin. Materials and Time worksheet, pencil 15 min.

III. Teacher Input (Present task, information, and guidance) * Activities and Setting students will be called to teachers desk individually to check correctness of worksheet. * Materials and Time completed worksheet 10 min.

IV. Guided Practice (Elicit performance) *Activities and Setting Together as a class the teacher will go over the worksheet and allow students to answer the questions on the worksheet by raising their hands and being acknowledged. *Materials and Time SMART board 30 min.

V. Independent Practice- Seatwork and Homework (Retain and transfer) Activities and Setting Students will return to their desk and brainstorm other environmental needs that we may have missed. They will also take their brainstorm list home to obtain help from their parents/guardians Materials and Time paper and pencil 20min./homework

VI. Closure (Plan for maintenance) Activities and Setting Students will be given a question and answer session the discuss the lesson and ask any questions they may have. Materials and Time 30/45 min

VII. STANDARDS & ASSESSMENT Standards NC Essential Standard- 1.L.1.1 Recognize that plants and animals need air, water, light (plants only), space, food, and shelter and that these may be found in their environment. NC Common Core-Teacher use a variety of instructional methods. Assessment/Rubrics Teacher will assess students learning by giving a short quiz.
