Samantha Maurice-Africa College 1 Southland RRJ (36-37) Chapter 36-37 1. Summary: Chapter 36 is basically the ending of the novel.

Jackie and Lanier go to court to show the case, and proof of the murder trial. The administrators are impressed at the research they give. They take the case into their hands, and Jackies aunt is proud of her for sticking to find out about the hidden truth. Later on Jackie is changing outfits and Rebecca comes. They both undress and are turned on by each other. They have their love moment and Rebecca and Jackie kiss. Jackie warns her that she has Laura still, but Rebecca doesnt care; she will wait for Jackie. Jackie feels that Rebecca gives her a new feeling that makes her feel great. Chapter 37 is about the day the four boys were about to die. Frank wanted to tell Curtis some news, but he knew he had to wait. Frank told the four boys to leave the store and get home before the riot was about begin again. He warned them not to come back and protect the store, it wasnt worth it. As Frank left, Curtis decided that he wanted to make his boss proud and stay around. The four boys ran back to the store, and Frank never got to tell Curtis the truth about himself. Curtis was Franks son. 2. Response: In Chapter 36, I thought we were going to be in the actual court case and see if the Thomas was guilty or not. I am disappointed in Jackie for kissing Rebecca. I knew she had feelings for her, but break up with your girlfriend, then fool around. Goodness! Chapter 37, I thought this chapter was sad. I felt bad for Frank that he never got to tell Curtis his past. Im actually sad the book ended the way it did. 3. Questions: Chapter 36: Why do you think Jackie kissed Rebecca? Do you think Jackie will break up with Laura and have an relationship with Rebecca? Chapter 37: Why do you think Frank never told Curtis that he was his son? Why didnt you think Alma every told Curtis who his real father was? Reading Process: I finished the book and just started doing my RRJs early and turning them in. 4. Vocabulary: Chapter 36: Sexuality: The way Jackie was turned on by Rebecca. Feeling: The way Jackie feels with Rebecca. Proud: Jackies aunt proud how Jackie stayed to research the of her grandfathers past.

Chapter 37: Truth: Curtis will never know that Frank was his father. Racist: When Officer Thomas told the four boys that theyre the reason blacks have a bad name. Goodbye: When Jimmy never got to tell Curtis before he left.
