2. Response: I love how Jackie has a girlfriend. It makes the main character so much more fascinating. I totally understand how Jackie feels about her relationship and there distance apart. The fact whenever there in town to see each other, makes me dream how if I was ever in love to see my partner. Laura seems needy and worried when her beloved Jackie doesnt get her messages. I think Laura is the light that drifts Jackie away from the stressful reality. Chapter 4, I really enjoyed this chapter since it talk about the familys past. Now the book is making more sense and I understand more about the characters. I really hope to find a friend or mate like Frank since he seems like a caring guy who really loves Mary. In the beginning, it was confusing to see whose life we were focusing on. But I really loved the ending. Chapter 5, This chapter was boring to me in the beginning. It wasnt till we find out that Curtis was dead, that I started to get more interested. I realize that when I am interested in a story, I read much faster and

understand it more clearly. I wonder what the grandfather thought about the crime that happened in his store. 3. Questions: Chapter 3: The reader gets to see how Jackies prospective feels about their relationship, what about how Laura feels about how their relationship? I wonder does Jackie loves Laura enough for the big question, marriage? Chapter 4: What was Nina Revoyr thinking when she mentioned of putting a stillborn baby in the story? Does Mary ever get to communicate with her sister, Grace, later when theyre adults? Chapter 5: What were the four boys doing over at Frankies grandfathers store? Does anyone of Jackies family know about the crime that happened? 4. Reading Process: When I was reading this chapter at Starbucks, I found that I really enjoy reading about romance. It makes me so happy when I get to see a character in love. I read the chapter pretty fast and to know more about their relationship. Chapter 4, this chapter was easy to read. In the beginning I was confused and a little bored since I was more interested in Jackies love life. I was super distracted and had to reread the chapter again since I wasnt really paying attention to what was happening. Later on I started to enjoy the familys past. Reading a novel in Starbucks when there are many distractions around you. Chapter 5, this chapter was super long for me to read since I was distracted. I wasnt interested in what happen until towards the end. I was reading during my breaks at class, as well as finishing the chapter in my room. This chapter wasnt my favorite, but it was interesting to know.

5. Vocabulary: Chapter 3: Visions: In the chapter, Jackie thinks if Laura could live together and have more than what they have, but realizes probably not. I choose this word since I can relate to how Jackie feels about the situation. But you never know what can happen in the future. Death: I feel like this word makes Jackie think in deep thought. Especially when they talk about her Marys funeral and how Frank is overwhelmed and cries. Jackie feels bad and wonders what was wrong with her. Happy: At the end of the chapter, the couples snuggle together safely. I feel like this word is important since a lot of people that have someone to love dont actually feel happy because of the person or they are stressed. I feel like Jackie and Laura have something special in a couple that make both human beings loved. Chapter 4: Laughed: When Grace laughs at her sister for kissing a boy, this cuts her sister relationship with her. Graces reaction hurts her sister feelings triggering to never talk to her sister, Grace, ever again. I feel like Mary is taking this to personal and should just forgive her sister action.

Family: When two different worlds meet and get along well, it is very rare. I feel like this word is important since both families want their child to be happy. They are both polite and understand the love that connects their children to be together. Restaurant: I found this word important since it was what the family only had to survive after the war was over. It is also important because thats where Mary and Frank met. Its also important because the family had to work together to maintain their home. Chapter 5: Family: this word is important since it does we learned about the past. There is no communication in Frankies family and it isnt surprising that her family wouldnt mention this. Murder: This word is important since four boys were killed in Frankies grandfathers store. Curtis Martindale was one of the victims that were killed. This crime is important since it might change how Jackie sees her grandfather as well as her families past. Case: This word is important since Lanier wants to make a case out of the crime. Even though the crime wasnt mentioned to the press during the time, he wants to get revenge on Lawson. Lanier has been caring about this crime for a very long time. He mentions it to Jackie. Lanier wants to make a movement of what happened that time.
