SUMMARY This movie which Escalante is a passionate teacher who challenged a group of pathetic students to rise to the occasion and take on the challenge of taking and passing the calculus test. The movie shows students moving from the destroy way to pass the most important test at the college. Jaime Escalante is a mathematics teacher in a school. Convinced that his students have potential, he adopts unconventional teaching methods help gang members (bad guys) and no-hopers pass the rigorous exam in calculus. The teacher Escalante began to work with the worst group of students but he always was serious. At the beginning I could look the enthusiasm of the teacher to teach although with some problems. At the beginning of the second class he used a very interesting technique and I think it is Realia he was using clothes like a chef and he was splitting an apple and then ask to the students what they got, a girl answered It is an apple and another girl said missing twenty five percent the technique is use real objects like he was doing. He was showing authority to all the class; there was some bad men but to him it didnt matter like you see he was showing a very important quality in the teaching so to contradict it when he putted an exercise an then ask to these special bad guys what is the answer so these guys was afraid but one of them know the answer and answered him so the answer was good and this guy feel enthusiasm. Escalante, in the film, deals with parents reluctant to let their children follow higher education. He shows sensitivity yet firmness, and a large part of his success one feels is that he saw potential and opportunity in young people where nobody else worried. After that there was a meeting of all the professors and they was fear because they have an special test and they didnt have the enough level and they

knew the all the students was bad just Mr.Scalante decide to improve that level. He said that all that they should have was GANAS. Escalante shows how teaching is an art Stand and Deliver a realistic representation of how prospective instructors can be successful in their careers. There was using the method Desuggestopedia because as you can see there was a classroom set up, the classes always was dynamic and entertainment, positive suggestion are give to the students and how time is passing all the students are respect them and the professor because the teacher create a good relation with the students there are suggestions from the teacher to eliminate all the barriers that the students has. Eighteen students passed the exam, Mr. Escalante hoped he had a thriving program that would only get bigger. In the movie "Stand and Deliver", Jaime Escalante used many different techniques to motivate his students to learn more and be more successful in math. Generally, his students might have a larger desire to learn more about other things in life. Jaime Escalante used many techniques to motivate his students to become more successful in math, and in life. Mr. Escalante motivated his students to learn better by presenting the material to them in a different fashion. Instead of lecturing the material to his students, he would find a way to make it easily understood or find a way to make it relate to things in their lives. How. One example of how he presented the material to them in a way so that they could understand easier how I said before was when he brought in apples for everyone and cut certain sized slices out of the apples. Since the students were learning about fractions, he asked them how much was missing from each of their apples. Instead of lecturing to them about fractions, he brought in visual aids to help them see and feel what they were learning about. Another way Mr. Escalante motivated his students to learn better was by creating a close relationship with them. Instead of having a working type

relationship, he got on the same way as them and got to know them and care for them. An example of this could be the night before the exam. He had his students over to his own house so they could all study, and then he cooked dinner for them. By Mr. Escalante motivating his students in a different fashion, the students were very successful. They were successful not only in math, but in their lives as well. To prove that Mr. Escalante's methods gave success to his students, one could take the fact that they passed the AP Calculus test, a test that is incredibly difficult, twice. Also, by Mr. Escalante getting his students to pass a test of such difficulty, his students should have a greater sense of self esteem allowing them to succeed in other tasks involved in their lives. Mr. Escalante's techniques worked wonderfully with the type of students he was teaching. One would think that this would go the same for Hartland Schools. His methods would work in Hartland, but it is really up to the students to decide whether or not the techniques will work.If the students are not willing to participate with a certain method, than, obviously, that method will not work. So at the end of movie all was good because the students was succeed passing the test and changing the way of they are and all thanks to this disciplining teacher and all the technique used in the classroom and the purpose of this movie is to teach how we can learn what is the way that the teacher and student should show so in the movie Jaime Escalante performed and eliminated all the barriers that the students has and activate learners paraconscious part of the mind and to develop the way of learning and he set up them the thinking that they was limited in their ability to learn .
