The Hong Kong Cultural Center is a modern and sophisticated performing arts center located on the Kowloon waterfront, adjacent to the City Hall. This world-class facility attracts a wide range of performances from concerts to dance to theatre, and is home to the leading arts and cultural organizations in Hong Kong. Opened in 1989, the Cultural Center facility hosts leading symphonies, ballets, operas, and solo artists from around the world. Performances can be simultaneously broadcast in 5 different languages making clear and reliable intercoms one of the most important systems at the HK Cultural Center. The Cultural Center has three large performance venues: the Concert Hall with seating for 2,019 with sound from a 8,000-pipe Reiger pipe organ; the Grand Theatre with 1,734 seats; and the Studio with seating for 534 - plus thirteen other rehearsal and function rooms. A four-channel party-line system with a switchboard matrix connects to single-channel beltpacks and headsets for the lighting, audio, and stage personnel. KB speaker stations are located throughout the venue, some wall-mounted and some in portable enclosures.
