Rachel Cason Clinicals ECE Block Journal Entry 1 First Impressions My first impression of Trace Crossings was that

t it was huge and a great facility for the students! The faculty and staff all seem ery friendly and knowledgea!le" # was impressed !y the num!er of opportunities students ha e to participate in acti ities outside the classroom$ such as %clu!s$& which allow them to e'plore their interests outside of academic disciplines" The school also pro ides resources to help students learn a ariety of su!(ects e erything from morning inter ention for reading$ to a kitchen where students can learn a!out cooking" )fter only my first day$ # could tell that this school was a great place for kids to learn and grow" #n my classroom$ it was immediately e ident that the teacher is working on making students independent and self*moti ated" The classroom follows a regular structure and schedule$ !ut there is also plenty of freedom for students to work on their own or in groups without direct instruction" The students are ery lo ing and welcoming$ and they are not afraid of asking me for help" +ne thing that surprised me was the num!er of international students in my classroom and the school" There are four ,ispanic students in my class$ as well as one student whose family is from Russia" There is also a large num!er of Middle Eastern students in the school" # think it-s great for kids to !e e'posed to di ersity$ and this school certainly pro ides the opportunity to get to know people from other cultures" # am ery e'cited to o!ser e$ teach$ and learn all # can at Trace Crossings this semester!
