Dear Delegates, It is our honor to welcome you to the General Assembly of MetMUNC XLII at Plainview Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School. We are excited to hear the stimulating debate to come over these two days. The United Nations General Assembly was established in 1945 as a part of the Charter of the United Nations. The General Assembly consists of all 193 members of the United Nations, whose delegates debate a wide variety of topics from setting the budget to making recommendations for maintaining peace and security. In this committee you will be debating highly controversial topics that affect all nations. The three topics for debate in this years committee are Food Security, Election Monitoring, and Post-Conflict Civilian Capacity. Each topic has serious implications in todays everchanging, interconnected world. As Chairs of this years General Assembly, we hope this will be an enriching experience for you. We look forward to meeting and getting to know you all! Regards, Cori Dauman Jennifer Hwang
