Evidence of My Ability to Communicate with Parents For this course, we were asked to respond to Dear Parent letters.

Below is the original letter and my response.

Original Letter: Dear Teacher, I was talking to my neighbor who has a daughter in Mrs. Smiths class. I was surprised to hear about all the things they are doing. How come the classes are so different if you are supposed to be teaching the same material? Sincerely, Confused Mom

My Response: Dear Confused Mom, Thank you so much for contacting me about your concern. Please understand that your child is learning the same material as any child in Mrs. Smith's class, or even Mr. Shoemaker's class. As teachers of the same grade level, we work collaboratively to ensure we are teaching the same material in the same time frame. We follow strict standards when deciding what to teach and even when to teach it. We are able to make personal touches to our lessons to ensure that we teach effectively to the students in our classrooms. Please let me know if you have further concerns. Thank you, Ms. Lohmeyer
