ASSIGNMENT 1 Question 1 Natural producing mechanism or we know as natural drive mechanism is a type of drive mechanism where there is no external

energy required for the reservoir to make oil and gas flow into the well bore. It requires only the reservoirs own energy itself to make oil and gas flow into the wellbore so that production of oil and gas can happen. In oil and gas reservoir, the natural producing mechanisms are listed below: i) ii) iii) iv) Gas cap drive Water drive Compaction drive Gravity drainage

It may not have solution gas drive mechanism as this mechanism is only for saturated or undersaturated reservoirs which means there is no initial gas cap.

Question 2 In oil reservoirs, the most efficient natural producing mechanism is water drive. The expected recovery is up to 60% STOIIP compared to other driving mechanism. However, it is the most efficient driving mechanism provided that there is a strong edgewater drive through very porous and permeable reservoirs.

Question 3 Water drive is good in oil reservoir but not in gas reservoir because in gas reservoir, the recovery efficiencies drops due to the bypassed gas and high reservoir pressures.
