What are the most important rules of personal behavior?

Since prehistoric times, man, as a fundamentally social being, has always been keen on developing a proper behavior that could suit a specific context. This need of acceptance has led to the development of a branch in philosophy known as ethics, which systemizes and also recommends the concepts of right and wrong conduct. Thus, it is imperative that people be taught or realize themselves how to properly behave. One of the most important aspects of a moral code is politeness, an application of good manners and display of respect regardless of the conjuncture one finds himself in. Showing proper etiquette is essential when it comes to being accepted and, because of this, every modern-day child is taught from a feeble age how to properly use the hopefully ubiquitous thank you and please. Honesty is of great relevance when it comes to establishing more durable bonds or coalescing relationship-wise. Honesty yields trust from both sides and, although we may be willingly putting ourselves in hazardous situations, trusting and being trusted can be two of the most exquisite feelings one can have. Closely related to the effects and products of honesty, being reliable is what prolongs any social relation. Lack of reliability ultimately results in decline of trust, and therefore the deterioration of the previously established bond. A connection such as trust is, unfortunately, as strong and vigorous as it is fragile. To conclude, I believe it is up to us to create our own moral code and our own subsequent social relations while abiding by the rules we have provided for ourselves.
