Course Description :

In British Columbia, all grade 10 students are required to take Planning 10. This
course focuses on developing skills students need to become self-directed
individuals. Students will learn to become informed decision makers; will develop
an understanding of personal responsibility regarding health, and financial well-
being; and for achieving their educational and career goals.

This practical course includes 4 units :

Graduation Program: Education and Careers:


 Overview of course and exam  Personal Interests & Attributes;
requirements;  Post-Secondary Education &
 Graduation Portfolio; Training;
 Focus Areas; and  Labour Market Information;
 Graduation Transitions.  Job Seeking & Job Keeping;
 Employment Standards &
Workplace Safety;
 Support Network & Resources;
and
 Transition Plan.
Health: Finances:
 Healthy Living & Information;  Financial Literacy;
 Healthy Relationships; and  Cost of Education & Career
 Healthy Decisions. Options: and
 Financial Planning.

This course is designed to be a combination of self-paced work, as well as group


discussions either online or in class. Participation is KEY to your success. It is
imperative that you complete all assignments in order to complete this course.

A reminder that ALL students: you MUST complete Planning 10 in order to


fulfill the Graduation Requirements.

Course Materials :

All students must have access to the Internet in order to complete the
assignments and online discussions. This course shall be as paper-free as
possible. Students will have class-time to have access to the computers in the
Blemont Library and the Belmont Learning Centre. Alternatively, students may
access the L i n e a r Starworks Music Planning 10 website
(www.belmontmusicplanning.weebly.com) at home. Students also need a valid
email address to send and receive assignments to me.
Course Expectations & Grading :

All students are expected to participate in classroom discussions and online


(forum-style) discussions on the weekly topics. All assignments must be emailed
to me no later than 11:00pm on the due date assigned. If any assignments are
late, the following percentage will be taken off for each day late:

1 day late – 10% off


2 days late – 15% off
3 days late – 25% off
4+ days late – will be marked as a zero.

Assignments that are 4 days or more late will still be marked for feedback, but a
grade of 0% will be graded. All assignments must be in a Word (PC) or Pages
(Mac) format. All assignments submitted will be returned back to the student via
email with all feedback in a different font colour.

All students will be evaluated by the following criteria:

Weekly Assignments/Projects 30%
Major Assignments/Projects 30%
TOTAL 100%

If you will be missing any class-time or will not have access to the Internet while
away from school, please let me know either via email

Office Hours :

The purpose of office hours is to facilitate those students that require extra help
on the course materials, assignments and projects. The office hours shall be
every Wednesday from 3:30pm-5:30pm in the Band Hall. Please note that these
office hours are also shared with the AP Music Theory 12 students as well. If
you cannot make it to the office hours, please make an appointment with me.
