January 13, 2014 Homework

REPORT CARDS: Report cards will be sent home tomorrow. Please sign and return. AR GOALS: We have daily self-selected reading time, but it may be necessary for your child to read outside of the school day to meet their goals. I keep them updated on their progress, but please monitor their reading at home to ensure they are meeting those goals. SUPPLIES: Our supply of Kleenexes is very low. If you would like to send some in, that would be greatly appreciated! CITIZENSHIP REPORT: If your child has a B or lower on their weekly citizenship report, please sign and return the report by Wednesday. GRANDPARENTS DAY: The 4th grade Grandparents Day will be on January 29th. More details will be sent home closer to that time. CLASSROOM WEBSITE: Make sure to check out our classroom website: http://ses.jcsc.org/ - then click on classrooms and find my name. Click on the open book on the right side of the page and it will open the site. A copy of this newsletter will be uploaded weekly. There is also a copy of the weekly spelling contract if your child would happen to misplace theirs.

1/14- Report Cards will be sent home

Reading: Our story this week is Gasping Garbage-The informational sheet

about our reading story is coming home today along with the newsletter. A significant portion of the test on Friday is based on the vocabulary, so this will help you know what the vocabulary words and meanings are.
Math: We are learning about fractions. We will be learning to rename and rewrite whole numbers as fractions, name and write mixed numbers as improper fractions, and write tenths and hundredths in fractional notation. Writing: This week in writing, students will work on proofreading and editing paragraph Science/Social Studies: Next week we will be learning about physical science, including how light and sound is produced and travels, how heat is generated and moves, and how electrical energy can be transformed into other forms of energy.
