Monet’s early life
• Claude Monet was born on 14 November
1840.
• He was the second son of Claude Adolphe
Monet and Louise Justine Aubrée Monet,
• On May 20 1841, he was baptised in A parish
church.
• In 1845, his family moved to Le Harde, in
Normandy.
• His father wanted him to go into the family
grocery business, but Monet wanted to
become an artist.
Monet’s early life as a painter
• In April 1851, Monet entered Le Havre secondary
school of the arts.
• Locals knew him for his charcoal paintings, he would
sell them for 20 Franks.
• Monet also had his first drawing lessons from
Jacques-Francois Orchard.
• Monet met an artist named,Eugene Boudin on a
beach in Normandy, who became his mentor and
taught him to use oil paints.
• Boudin taught Monet ”Ein plein heir. “or outdoor
techniques for painting.
• On January 28 1857, his mother died.
• At the age of sixteen, he left school and went to live
with his widowed aunt, Marie-Jeanne Lecadre.

Why I chose Monet
• I chose Monet mainly because of his
courage. He had the courage to stand out
against the public.
• He also made one of his most famous
paintings when he was mostly blind.
• Monet was also the founder of the
Impressionist movement.
