By now you have chosen your Final Year Media Project. Write a one line summary of your project title below: Al hathaa Planning ahead Although you will not be implementing your project until next semester, it is important to be well prepared and to have a good idea of the time scale you will need in order to complete everything. Whatever tools you use for planning your time, it all starts with a realistic checklist for each stage of your project from pre-production, through production, to post-production and reflection. 1. Make a checklist a point by point list of the tasks (large and small) you need to accomplish. You will get more marks for adding more detail.
2. Visualize it sketch out by hand (or using software) how your time will be managed. Divide your tasks into phases (e.g. pre-production / securing resources) suitable for your project.
3. Make a daily / weekly / monthly schedule leading up to the exact date of implementation (in case you dont have exact dates, approximations are fine)
4. Key dates and deadlines. Now add some detailed notes specifying deadlines that you need to stick to (e.g. by the last week in February, I must have a script written for) Include a Plan B if you think there is a chance you might miss the deadline.
Remember: a production schedule is a living document. It will change! You do not have to worry about sticking exactly to the dates you write down now. It is important that you make a realistic schedule with realistic deadlines and you can justify these in detail when you present it to your supervisor. You may include some ? into your schedule, but be ready with a plan B. If dates depend on things outside your control (e.g. voluntary help) plan for a best-case and worst-case scenario Deadline: Submit all documentation by Sunday 8th December Your supervisor will meet to discuss your production schedule in detail during week 13 (8th to 12th Dec) Grades will be awarded for documentation (50%) and oral presentation with supervisor (50%)
