(At the Kings`s Comand, the Song and Remainder Resolved with Canonic Art) "RICERCAR" The dedication above was engraved in Latin on the front page of "A Musical Offering" by Johan Sebastian Bach. In Latin caracters, the intials of this inscription will give "Ricercar", an Italian word, meaning "to seek". The work consist of, one three part fugue, one six-part fugue, ten canons, and a trio sonata built upon a "Royal Theme" presented to Bach by the dedicee himself, Fredrik the Great, during a visit to the Court of Potsdam 1747. In "Sanssouci" the "Royal Theme" is seeking through the History, as revealed by stylistic methods from varios epochs of the guitar. The musical artefacts eventually appears, simuntanensly in different forms to engulf the theme, and later on, to overpower it with brutal attacks from the garbage can of the guitar history. The Void remains as the only sanctuary. Christer Persson 1994.
