Galpagos, the islands were used as a base for buccaneers, whalers and sealers. The buccaneers, sealers and whalers would catch and stack thousands of Galpagos tortoises on top of each other and ship them away from home to be eaten. The islands have everything a person needs to survive shelter, water and food. Ecuador claimed the Galpagos in 1832. Lots of animals

The Weather in the Galpagos is determined by the the currents of the ocean and the Equator. It is very hot in the Galpagos because the Equator runs through the islands. It is hotter in Galpagos than it is in Ecuador because the Galpagos are at sea level and Ecuador is not because of the mountains. Its cooler in the mountains because the mountains are higher in the air and the higher you go the cooler it gets. According to Ms.Murray, you need to wear sun protecting

clothes because when she went to the Galpagos she was wearing SPF 90 and she got fried even through her shirt! To this day she regrets not wearing sun protecting clothes. In March the temperature can get up to 90 degrees! Thats Hot! As the chart above says in the Galpagos the water temperature can get up to 75 degrees! Thats like a hot tubs temperature! The Galpagos are coldest June to December and December to June its its hottest.
