c) Non-destructive Tests All major butt welds, i.e.

welds subjected or affected by high service stress, impact, fatigue, or vibration stresses shall be 100 %radiographically inspected and must reach at least the quality of class 2 of the catalogue of the International Institute of Welding. All other welds shall be inspected in accordance with Sub-Clause 2.1.1 of the GTS, Volume 2

For requirements on general steel structures reference is made also to the General Technical Specifications. Minimum requirements for important welds: Radiographs will be classified in accordance with the reference radiographs of an International Institute of Welding. Welding in accordance to class B of EN1435 or better quality is acceptable. All welding shall be performed by processes and procedures producing welds whose properties match those of the steel being joined as closely as practicable.

2.1.1.4 Non destructive Testing of Welds in Steel Components All full penetration welds in components in Category A shall be examined for their full length radiographically or ultrasonically. In general this examination shall be by radiography for butt welds and by ultrasonics for tee welds. The examination methods and the standard of acceptability shall be in accordance with Section VIII, Division I, of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. In addition, a percentage of all other welds in components in Categories A and B shall be examined ultrasonically or radiographically. The examination methods, extent of examination and standard of acceptability shall be in accordance with Section V of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. The toes of all fillet welds in components in Category A shall be subject to crack detection. The Contractor shall submit radiographs and reports to the Engineer within seven (7) calendar days of the taking of radiographs. The report shall contain complete identification of the component concerned, definition of the location of the radiographed areas, full description of the radiographic techniques and report on all indications on the film. Welds in which unacceptable defects are found by radiography or ultrasonic examination shall be subject to re-examination by the same respective method after repair
