Embedded Parts (Miter Gate)

The Contractor shall provide the gate frames in the lock recesses as shown on
the Outline Design Drawings. The frame shall consist of a sill beam, and side
frames with a combined seal seat, and track for the leaf side guide. The
frames shall be supported on metalwork embedded in second stage concrete
as shown on the Outline Design Drawings. The seal seats/track surface shall
be machined to the tolerance permitted in DIN 19704.
All parts shall be equipped with stud bolts and stiffeners. The stud bolts will be
site welded to dowel plates, being encased into first stage concrete. All
embedded parts as well as the dowel plates are parts of supply under this
Contract.
Dowel plates and stud bolts shall be arranged in such a manner, that all parts
to be embedded in second stage concrete are adjustable and can be rigidly
fixed. Reinforcement, anchor rods and other supporting mild steel parts must
have a sufficient concrete cover. The minimum plate thickness of embedded
parts shall be 15 mm.

2.3. Scope and Limits of Supply

The supply shall cover:
One (1) complete sets of sliding stoplogs. The Contractor shall select
the number of stoplog elements, balancing transportation difficulties,
ease of operation and the cost of the mobile crane and of the crane
barge.
Six (6) sets of fixed embedded parts, which shall be accurately
fabricated true to dimension. One set shall consists of one sill profile,
two lateral profiles transferring the load of the stoplogs to the concrete,
plus the upper profiles extending up to the elevation of the walls of the
navigation locks and the required lateral guiding profiles. All necessary
1st and 2nd stage embedded plates and structural shapes for proper
embedment shall be also included.
One lifting beam equipped with guiding wheels and grabbing.
All fixed and movable parts and cover required to store and handle the
stoplogs elements at their storage position.
The supply includes also the necessary accessories, frames, fixed or
movable pieces, even if not mentioned above, required for warranting a
trouble-free and safe operation.
The supply shall also include all spare parts, tools and equipment required for
a proper handling and maintenance of the stoplogs, as specified in Section 5
of the PTS for Volume 2
The Contractor shall timely provide to the Engineer:
All required information about blockouts and positioning of parts to be
embedded in first stage concrete.
Data about the forces transmitted to the concrete.

4.3. Shop Manufacturing

Machining of renewable parts shall be accurate and to specific dimensions so
that replacements made to measure as shown in the drawing may be readily
installed. Similar parts and spare parts shall be inter-changeable. Drilled

holes for bolts shall be accurately located and drilled from templates.

4.5. Tolerances
The Contractor is responsible for limiting the deviations from the theoretical
sizes in such a manner that he can ensure trouble free and safe operation of
the stoplogs. He is also responsible for keeping the water leakage within the
limits admitted.
The following manufacturing and installation tolerances shall apply. The
manufacture of the various parts shall be such that the installation tolerances
can be achieved by adjustment of the anchor bolts without additional jacking,
straightening, correcting or grinding during erection and installation. These
tolerances shall be shown on the shop drawings.
a) Parts Embedded in First Stage Concrete
Anchor bolts or plates and other parts embedded in first stage
concrete shall be to location and level within 6 mm.
b) Top and Side Seal Seats
Sealing faces of top and side seal seats shall be in a common
vertical plane, within 0.5 mm overall.
c) Bottom and Intermediate Seal Seat
The sealing face of the bottom and intermediate seal seat shall be
horizontal within 0.5 mm overall.
d) Guides
Faces of guides shall be aligned within 1 mm without gaps or
offsets at joints exceeding 0.03 mm.

2.3. Scope and Limits of Supply

2.3.1. Trash Racks
The supply shall cover the complete trash rack panels, including all fixed parts
embedded in first and second stage concrete in the horizontal and vertical
girders, sill and upper support profiles and all bolts for the erection of the trash
rack panels. It shall also cover all embedded and steel guide channels to allow
the cleaning of the trash racks by water jets at deck elevation.
The scope of supply under this Section shall cover, but is not limited to:
Three (3) removable trash racks complete
Three (3) sets of embedded parts, tracks, anchors, sills, lintel, etc.,
complete
Three (3) sets of movable and fixed parts for dogging device complete
One (1) set of lifting beam complete

5.4.1. Embedded and Fixed Parts

Anchor bolts and plates shall be placed in such a way and at such intervals so
as to ensure easy alignment and true positioning.
The design of the second stage embedded parts shall match with the
disposition of the first stage embedded parts

2.3. Scope and Limits of Supply

The supply shall cover:
Six (6) complete sets of embedded parts for stoplogs, which shall be
accurately fabricated true to dimension. One set shall consists of one sill
profile, two lateral profiles transferring the load of the stoplogs to the
concrete, one lintel profile, plus the upper profiles extending up to the
elevation of the operating platform and the required lateral guiding
profiles. All necessary embedded plates and structural shapes for proper
embedment shall be also included.

4.5. Tolerances
The Contractor is responsible for limiting the deviations from the theoretical
sizes in such a manner that he can ensure trouble free and safe operation of
the gates and stoplogs. He is also responsible for keeping the water leakage
within the limits admitted.
