St. Hughs High School 1 Leinster Road Kingston 5 October 8, 2013 Dear Mrs.

McMorris, Re: United Nations Week The United Nations Junior Club of St. Hughs High School, is seeking permission to host UN week from the 22nd to the 25th of October. During this week we would like to carry out activities that aid in the clubs goal which is: to help make the world a better place through engaging in activities that contributes to the Millennium Development goals of the United Nations. Our intended activities for each day are as follows: Tuesday, October 22 We would like to kick off a can drive, where we ask members of the school community to donate canned goods which we intend to give to a selected charity this Christmas. Also, we would like to show a short power point presentation in the library each day regarding the United Nations and the Millennium Development goals. At the end of the week, we would ask the girls questions regarding the content of the presentation with the winner being rewarded with a prize. Wednesday, October 23 On this day, our club day, we would like to host our first official club project. The United Nations Junior Club has adopted the library garden and has made it our responsibility to keep it clean and polished. We have consulted Mr. Anderson and other members of the ancillary staff and also the library administration with regards to this upcoming project. The responses were positive. Thursday, October 24 We would like to conduct a bake sale in the morning to raise funds for Model United Nations Assembly next month. In the afternoon, we would like to show a short documentary to raise awareness about womens education. The subject of this documentary is Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani young lady who is an advocate for education in her country.

Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to your response. Yours Respectfully, Latocha Terrelonge (President) ________________________
