Black Tie Night

NOTICES Nigel Latta: We had a highly successful evening on Wednesday evening listening to Nigel Latta discuss behavioural differences between boys and girls. We were also very lucky to host Nigel the next day at morning Hui where he spoke to the children. The event was sold out with 400 people in attendance. The purpose of the event was to fundraise funds from outside our school community. We successfully achieved this goal by raising approximately $5000. Thank you to sponsors; JT Law, Museum Hotel, ASB Bank and the Childrens Bookshop. Thank you to Terry Orchard who did a great job as Master of Ceremonys for the evening. Swimming: A reminder to parents that swimming starts at Sportswide Gym on The Terrace on Thursday afternoon. Children need togs, towel, goggles and swimming cap in a plastic bag. Girls Football: CTMS will have a Yr 6-8 girls Football team participating in the Capital Football Womens World Cup festival tournament to be held this Friday at Te Whaea Artificial turf in Newtown. The tournament has been set up to celebrate the NZ Football Ferns being at the 2011 FIFA Womens World Cup in Germany. We wish our girls team a fun but competitive day. Interzone Cross Country: Schools Interzone Cross Country competition takes place this Thursday. We wish Leeza Speranskaya and Josh Paine all the very best in their races. Gifted and Talented Art Classes: The Gifted and Talented Art programme at the City Gallery begins on Friday. The students will be working with Keila Martin the Education Officer. Welcome: This week we welcome Hannah Wells and her family to Kowhai homegroup. Parent Helper needed: Next term we require a regular parent helper from Kowhai to support with the walk to and from the Wellington Library every fortnight. If you are able to help, please let Murray know. Lunches: A few children are coming to the staff requesting extra food at lunchtime. With the colder weather, we have noticed that the childrens appetites have increased. We do have the facility for the children to heat their food in the microwave in the art room. Please check in with your child to see that they are receiving enough food. We would appreciate no instant noodles as staff spend a lot of time heating and draining them in the staffroom for children as we dont allow children to use the boiling water. Basketball Fundraiser: We have 9 tickets left to sell. The money raised will be spent on sports equipment. Thank you to New World Railway Station for sponsoring this event for us. Black Tie Night: See attached flyer. Assessment Evening: On Thursday June 30th we will be holding an information evening for parents on assessment at CTMS. During the evening the staff will discuss the various assessment tools used in each of the homegroups. We will also cover how these assessments contribute to teachers making an Overall Teacher Judgment (OTJ) on student achievement in relation to the National Standards. This will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday 30 June. Tear off slip .. CTMS Assessment Information Evening Thursday 30 June at 7pm I/we will be attending the Assessment Information Evening at CTMS on Thursday 30 June at 7pm at CTMS.
