Grade 11 Physical & Health Education This is a one credit course Teacher: Mr.

Rogers
Course Description: Our goal is to work with students to help them determine what will work best in their specific situations to help them take ownership of their own physical fitness. By doing so they will discover interesting and rewarding activities that help them establish active lifestyles they can carry with them in the future. Implementation Model In class time Out of class time Course Content: 1. Physical activity practicum: - A minimum of 55 hours of moderate to vigorous activity - 30 hours in class - 25 hours out of class - Weekly activity log - Students will meet with P.E. staff on the first class of each week to record activity hours 2. Core components: - Fitness Management - Social Impact of Sport - Substance Use and Abuse - Mental and Emotional Health 75% - Teacher directed 25% - Student and Teacher sign off

All students will be required to keep a portfolio. No homework is required for this course. Time will be given to students to complete all work in school. Students will be graded for completion with a complete/incomplete designation (this will have no affect on student averages). Students who do not fulfill course requirements will be required to repeat the course. Phys-Ed Dress Policy: Changing for phys-ed class is mandatory. All students must wear gym shorts or sweatpants and a t-shirt or sweatshirt, and indoor non-marking gym shoes. No boots, hiking boots, street shoes, or shoes with a heel will be allowed. A strong emphasis will be placed on students coming prepared for class.
