Prepare for and complete PreExternal Review for AdvancED -meet DSO expectations for PreExternal Review process

The CSI Leadership team, administration, and faculty prepared for and participated in the AdvancED preth external review on January 24 , 2013. The entire faculty was invited to an outbriefing provided directly after the pre-external review team visit and were provided the written report following the visit. The CSI Leadership Team analyzed the feedback from the preexternal review team and provided a synthesis of this information to all faculty during common planning.

- CSI Leadership - Team Leaders - Administration

Fall 2012

Spring 2014

The CSI leadership and committee structure underwent a major change throughout the SY 2012-13. A new committee structure was put into place in which each committee addressed specific aspects of the AdvancED standards. The CSI Leadership Team determined that seven committees were to be established as follows: External Climate, Internal Climate, Professional Development, Instructional Design, Classroom Based Assessment, Resources and Behavioral Support, and Using Data to Drive Instruction (Data Team). Each committee was led by a faculty member and this faculty member also represented a grade level or group of specialists on the CSI Leadership Team. Monthly meetings were held with this group in conjunction with administration and the FEA representative. The CSI leaders worked with their assigned committees throughout the year and grade levels during common planning. Committee membership was spread across grade levels so that all committees had a representative from every grade level and specialist group. Committees will stay consistent for SY 2012-13.

Discussion occurred at many levels in regards to the appropriateness of the writing assessment prompt and administration. Based on input from faculty with the guidance of the ISSP faculty, the data committee was able design an improved local writing assessment process to be implemented in the Fall of 2013. The writing assessment was closely aligned with the current CSI school-wide goal for responding to and analyzing text. Aspects of the 6+1 traits of writing were considered as all grade levels determined prompts and texts that were appropriate for each grade level. Rubrics and anchor papers were clarified for the new assessment process . Implementation of the updated writing assessment will take place in SY 2012-13.
