U.S. Olympic Biathlete Sara Studebaker Announced As Third CommCon Guest BOISE, Idaho U.S. Olympic biathlete and Boise native Sara Studebaker has been announced as the third guest for the Social in Sochi keynote event. Social in Sochi is part of CommCon 2014, which will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Special Events Center (SpEC). The keynote event will feature 2014 Winter Olympians with links to Idaho to discuss the role social media played in their Sochi experiences. Social media has changed dramatically in the four years between my Olympic experiences [Vancouver 2010/Sochi 2014], said Studebaker. It has become an important part of civic and cultural involvement for people all over the world, so understanding its uses and reach is critical. I am excited to share my Sochi social media experiences at CommCon 2014! Studebaker, a Boise High School graduate, finished seventh with the USA Womens 4x6 km Relay team with a time of 1:12:14.2. Studebaker also placed 55th in the Womens 15 km Individual, 51st in the Womens 10 km Pursuit and 44th in the Womens 7.5 km Sprint. Studebaker also captained her 2007 Dartmouth College ski team to its first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) title in more than 30 years. We are so excited to have Sara for our event, said Sam Cooke, event logistics coordinator. She is a world class athlete from right here at home and we can't wait to here what she has to say. Studebaker joins U.S. Olympic bobsledder Nick Cunningham and U.S. downhill skier Erik Fisher for the Social in Sochi keynote event which will follow CommCon 2014 in SUB Jordan Ballroom BD from 4 9 p.m. Information about tickets and additional panelists will be made public in the near future. ### CommCon 2014 is a student-produced communication convention hosted by the Department of Communication at Boise State University. It provides an opportunity for organizations, professionals, educators, students, and the Boise community to celebrate the field of communication, explore the industry, and bridge the gap between students and professionals.
