Kinley Carty Philosophy of Education 02 February 2014 Personal Philosophy of Art Education I am a firm believer that every child

has it in them to learn. We as educators must learn how to allow them to just that, learn. I have vowed to myself to never become a teacher that will stifle learning in any sense. In my years in the education department I have learned a huge amount about myself, children and my peers. I have learned the type of educator I want to become as well as the type of classroom I plan to have. I have learned that educators should never damper a childs spirit by restricting learning in any sense. I believe it is imperative to allow children time to work with other children. They feed off one another; every child has something different to offer another. The benefits of art are immense. Children can learn a sense of self worth as well as discipline. They can also become more involved in their communities, or even get their communities more involved with what is going on in their lives. There are many art projects that can be used to get the community more involved. One of my many goals as an educator is to work on community involvement in the town in which I teach. Another goal I have is to bring art into schools where there is no art program. There are several elementary schools in the area where I live that have no art program, so my greatest goal will be to implement some kind of program in these types of schools. Ultimately

my hope is that one day I can impact childrens lives the way that so many of my teachers impacted mine.
