William Harvey was a trained physician in the seventeenth century. After doing research on circulation of the blood, he wrote a report about the #motion of the heart and blood in animals. There are many reasons why Harveys discovery had such a limited impact on medical treatment. For example, at this time many people believed that Galen was the father of medicine. Galen wrote 250 texts on what he thought was correct in medicine. Galen thought that blood in a human body circulated around the liver, whereas Harvey proved him wrong by saying the blood circulates around the heart. As Galen was so loved, many people did not want to believe Harveys explanations. In the 17th Century medicine was controlled by the church and the church did not like Harveys theories as they were going against Galen. Also the discovery did not make a huge impact on medical treatment because Harvey was not concentrating on treatment, but just of the human body. He did not look at disease and what caused and prevented them, he just wanted people to understand how the circulation system
