To whom it may concern: I would like to express my interest in the elementary teaching position available in your district. As a graduate of Alma College with a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education (ZS), I am highly qualified in teaching in these area as well as teaching the core subjects, math, language arts, science, and social studies. I believe all students have the ability to learn if given the right amount of attention and learning capabilities. I believe in classrooms that encourage students to be critical thinkers with the use of hands-on activities, along with other various learning strategies to accommodate all children. For my education placements, I have worked in preschool, kindergarten, and 4th grade classrooms. In these classrooms, I have assisted teachers in hands-on activities for reading, number recognition, and social studies. I taught an interactive lesson on the history of Thanksgiving to 4th graders. I also taught an aesthetic lesson for preschoolers to improve their aesthetic development, introduce them to various textures, and improve their imagination skills. Besides the classroom placements I have had, I have improved my knowledge and understanding of children by working at Middle of the Mitten Learning Center and a summer camp for Girl Scouts. While at the learning center, I observed and increased my knowledge of infants as young as six months up until preschoolers, age four. The summer camp helped me understand the development of girls ages seven to sixteen. Through both of these jobs, I increased my communication skills because I worked with multiple coworkers at a time and we all had to communicate to support each other and facilitate the children. Along with this letter is a resume, which outlines all of my educational experiences. I am willing to speak with principals about any questions they might have.
