Senior Guard Robert Hudson
Robert Hudson is a senior guard for Emory & Henry mens basketball team. He currently leads the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game and is a career 1,000 point scorer. CH: Rob, you are a 1,000 point career scorer here at E&H and are currently averaging a teamleading 13.5 ppg. What is it that has allowed you to be so successful? RH: I think just shooting a lot of shots and my teammates trusting me throughout the years to get it done offensively. CH: If you were an opposing player, how would you define your game? RH: I think as an opposing player I would say I can do a little bit of everything but my shot is deadly. CH: You've gotten the chance to play under two different coaches and in two different systems. What has that been like, and what have you learned from both? RH: Playing under Coach J. and running the system was unlike anything I have experienced in my basketball career. I learned how to really shoot from the system. Playing for coach Russo, I learned to appreciate traditional basketball and actually playing defense. With both coaches, there were ups and downs, the good and the bad, but that's life, right? CH: Who would win in a game of basketball between newly elected President Barack Obama and yourself ? Virginia Weslyan here and they were ranked as the number one team in the country. CH: What are you majoring in at E&H? RH: I have a double major in Sports Management and Geography. I also have a minor in Business. CH: What are your plans for after you graduate?

Eight gold medals and a water bong later, swimmer suspended
The superstar Olympian and record setting swimmer Michael Phelps has shocked the world again but this time not for the better. Recently a picture was released of Phelps at a South Carolina party with a bong (typically used for smoking Marijuana) in use. Phelps did not deny the authenticity of the photo, nor did he deny using Marijuana, but instead said "I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again." However, the thing is, you can't really tell by Phelps' reaction whether he was sorry that he did it or if he was just sorry that he got caught doing it. Either way, Phelps was punished by USA Swimming, drawing a threemonth, unpaid suspension, and despite the fact that all evidence would be circumstantial, Richland County, South Carolina Sheriff Leon Lott is still pursuing posses-

Its time to hit the diamond again for the E&H Baseball team as its season starts Feb. 14 against Western Connecticut State in Pulaski at Kiwannas Field. Though the Wasps lose alleverything player Gavin Haynes to graduation, there is still a strong cast of players returning from the 2008 season. Among

the leading returnees are Anthony Lowry, Codie Mitchell, Michael Unger, Nick Windom, Josh Sickles, Marc Ailstock and Josh Rigney. Among those players, only Rigney started less than 16 games. Rigney, Mitchell and Lowry were some of the leaders on the team in batting average a year ago, hitting .415, .346 and .339 respectively. This list of impressive

returnees is joined by 28 newcomers who hope to make their mark on the upcoming season. Though the Wasps were once again predicted tenth in the preseason poll, that doesnt dissuade them any. Theres no reason to look at what preseason polls say, junior Anthony Lowry said. It doesnt matter where we are picked, all that matters is what happens between the white lines.

sion charges. Phelps' sponsors by and large have stood by him, although Kellogg's cereal has dropped him. Before the picture was released, Phelps' image was seen as pristine: better behaved than those slobber-knockers on the gridiron, jump shooters on the hardwood, or steroid users on the diamond. Part of that was based on the fact that swimming is a relatively scandal-free sport. Many Americans have already convicted Phelps in the court of public opinion, but I expect him to be back in the 2012 Olympics adding to his medals.
