COURSE HANDOUT (PART II)
Date: 05/01/2013

In addition to Part I (General Handout for all courses appended to the timetable) this portion gives
further specific details regarding the course.

Course No : EEE C272 / INSTR C272 / EEE F243/ INSTR F243
Course Title : Circuits & Signals / Signals and Systems
Instructor-in-charge : NARAYAN S MANJAREKAR
Instructors : Sarang C. Dhongdi

1. Scope and Objective:

The course presents the fundamental ideas in both continuous-time and discrete-time signals and
systems. This course aims at learning the following:
Signals and systems, their classification. Response of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems.
Convolution operation for LTI systems.
Frequency domain analysis of continuous-time LTI systems using tools such as Laplace
transform, Fourier transform/series.
Sampling and reconstruction.
Frequency domain analysis of discrete-time LTI systems using tools such as Z-transform,
discrete time Fourier transform/series.
Discrete Fourier transform and its algorithmic implementation.
Basic notions of filtering analog and digital filtering.
