NWEA Testing
Last Thursday, we took the NWEA math portion of the end of the year testing. Many met their
goal. Tomorrow, will be the reading and Wednesday, the language portions. Your child should
have brought home the letter I sent last week showing his or her scores for the fall and winter
tests, as well as the goal he or she needed to reach for each subject. Please make sure your
child gets a good nights sleep as well as a breakfast each morning.
Spelling Bee
Fifth grade participated on the spell down for the spelling bee last week. The final six from our
class were: Bailey, Jared, McKenzie, Madison, Jersey, Ava, and Kayden (our alternate).
After both fifth grade classes participated in the spell down, we ended up with these four who
will move on to our school-wide spelling bee and they are: Madison Graham, Kayden
Wilmot, McKenzie Neelis, and Ella Patton. Bailey Vissman is our alternate.
Congratulations to our finest spellers!! The spelling bee is on May 22
nd
at 9:45.
Argumentative Writing
We are in the home stretch for getting our argumentative writing published. I have sent some
down to Mrs. Weaver either because they pertained to our school or because they were
outstanding essays. I will have them hung up on our bulletin board outside of our classroom.


Spelling
I do not send home words on a sheet in an effort to save paper. Your child will be writing them
in his or her agenda every Monday. I will also include those in my newsletters. Your childs
spelling words for this week are:
winning refilled chatting equipped
referred mean mopped omitted
king letter thinnest swimming
mean scarred late forbidden
Three times each is always due no later than Thursday morning.
