Facts/dates

• In 1991 The Revolutionary United Front (RUF)


declared war upon the government.
• Between 1991 and 1999 thousands of people have
died.
• May 2000, the war had been settled between the two
forces.

• The Revolutionary United Front were the kind


of the winners in the war. They benefited
millions of dollars through all the years of war.

• The civilians were the most effected victims


through the whole time of war. The teenagers
were dragged to the war, families were
homeless and aimless. Poverty spread all
over the country leaving only sadness and
sorrow.

• "The rebels drove us out in 1992, we fled to another country.


We went and lived in Guinea like refugees. It was a constant
struggle. We came back and started to settle again, they drove
us out again, burnt all our houses, our cars, took our money,
everything... It even got to the point where you hid from the
rebels, from the militia and even the government soldiers."

• The new government is gaining authority of


the country little by little and they’re trying to
make living in Sierra Leone better and more
peaceful.
