Whirl
More than 1,000 people watched 75 local
performers give it a whirl on Blumenthal
stages while participating in our new active
arts program called Whirl.
Affnity Groups
3,684 fans attended our affnity Groups and
other outreach programs where they learned
more about our shows and made new friends.
Ticket Scholarships
and Discounts
Our ticket scholarships made our programs
accessible to the entire community.
334 tickets through the Duke Energy and
Family First ticket scholarship programs
were given to economically challenged
families to see SiSTEr aCT and WiCKED.
More than 1,500 free tickets were given to
dozens of community organizations like Big
Brothers, Big Sisters to introduce the arts to
kids.
Our $20 student rush tickets helped 5,576
students to attend our shows.
Digital Connection
More than 20,000 fans connected with us via
Facebook and Twitter.
Our website received nearly 1.5 million visits
from people wanting to learn more about
our shows and programs. More than
half of our fans buy their tickets online
through our website.
Two lucky winners of a Facebook contest
were sent to New York to attend the
Tony awards as seat-fllers people who
temporarily fll seats of award winners and
presenters during the broadcast.
Other
Each Broadway show that we presented
featured closed captioning and signed
interpretation for the hearing-impaired, as
well as audio description for the blind.
Hosted the 2012 National Poetry Slam, which
attracted more than 350 poets and teams
from across the country for a weeklong Slam
Poetry Contest.
Hosted the Charlotte premiere of season two
of the Showtime series Homeland.
