Penny & Dropper Inquiry

ROUND #1 QUESTION:
How many drops of water will fit on the head side of a penny?

CLAIM:
15 drops will fit on the head side of a penny without spilling over.

PROCEDURE:
1) Fill beaker to the top with water.
2) Take temperature of the water
3) Set penny, head side up, on a level surface
4) Tape dropper to the ruler @ the 2 cm mark
5) Fill dropper with water
6) Hold dropper parallel to the table
7) Release drops one by one onto the surface of the penny
8) Remain aware of water accumulation, moving dropper accordingly
9) Once water dome has formed, place drop in the center of the dome
10) Repeat steps 1-3
11) Repeat steps 5-9
12) Repeat steps 1-3
13) Repeat steps 5-9

CONCLUSION:
